Hello and welcome to Essential Resume Skills … you here for one primary reason … you need to learn how to write a resume.

I will be showing you, step by step, exactly what it takes to learn how to write a resume but before we begin let’s start by understanding WHAT a resume is meant to do.

You will notice on the RIGHT I have broken up “Writing a Resume” into 3 different areas:

BEFORE Writing a Resume

Writing a Resume and

AFTER Writing a Resume

Feel free to either keep reading below for a brief intro into the PURPOSE of a resume OR click on the relevant category for you …

Lets clear the air a little by discussing the BIGGEST misconception with why people want to learn how to write a resume.

When most people are asked what a resume is meant to do the overwhelming answer is “To get a job”.

Do you agree?

WRONG!

A resume is NOT meant to get you a job!

Nobody EVER gets their “dream” job … or even “a” job because they wrote a fantastic resume!

A resume is meant to do ONE thing and one thing only … capture the interest of your potential future employer and get you in for in INTERVIEW!

Let me see if I can restate that a little clearer …

A resume will NOT get your hired!

A good resume will give you the opportunity to get interviewed!

Now … before we really go into detail here you’re probably asking yourself WHY you should be listening to me in the first place. This is a completely valid question and I want to get it out of the way so we can focus on helping you learn how to write a resume.

Now … I don’t tell you this to brag … I just want you to understand that in my 18+ years of Human Resources I have seen tens of thousands of resumes.

I can tell you EXACTLY what it takes to succeed and can teach you EXACTLY what you need to know to learn how to write a resume.
